Main Project Activities implemented during April – November 2014
Activity I. 5-day Study Visit and Training of Trainers (ToT) in Nowy Sacz:
In April 2014 "Children Are the Future"(CAF/FJA) together with an NGO from Kosovo took part in a 4 day ToT training on “Public Achievement”, organized by the Educational Society of Malopolska (MTO) in Nowy Sacz, Poland. The training was organized in the framework of the project: " Educating a New Generation of Active Citizens through PA Program", which is sponsored by the Citizens for the Engaged Communities Association(CEC), USA.
The participants were trained and certified as trainers of future Public Achievement mentors and coaches and will use the acquired knowledge to successfully implement the project.
In addition to an in depth training on PA, the group of CAF trainers and the Kosovo colleague were given the opportunity to visit a few schools, and gain insights from the experience of a Polish PA group. All of these together helped us create clearer ideas about how to further develop the PA program in Albania and integrate it into other CAF projects and programs.
Activity II. Awareness-raising meetings, accompanied by the distribution of PA leaflet, have been organized by CAF representatives in each school and community with students, teachers, school administrators, parents, Local Government representatives and other community members in order to introduce them to the goal and main elements of the project, PA program and its importance to the students’ personal and social development, as well as improvement and democratization of life in the school and in the community.
Activity IV. Training of PA mentors/coaches from the target schools was another main activity that was successfully organized by CAF team in Durres at the end of May, beginning of June. The training was organized through a very participatory approach, which combined theory with practice, group work, role play, simulation games and reflection sessions related to the project and their work with children.
